Bartlett Trees Experts Bring Real Life Science Lesson to LBE
Tuesday, June 6, 2017
Frank Lloyd Wright once said, “The best friend on earth of man is the tree. When we use the tree respectfully and economically, we have one of the greatest resources on earth.”
As part of New York State’s science curriculum, Long Branch Elementary fourth-graders learn about the life cycle of a tree and the important role it plays in the environment. But keeping a tree healthy can be a difficult job, so representatives from Bartlett Tree Experts recently stopped by LBE to take care of the school’s trees and share their knowledge with students.
Bartlett Arborist Representative Richard Croft, along with crew leader Julian Monaco and crew member Win Oo, spoke with the fourth-graders about the importance of routinely pruning trees. They also told the students about the different types of equipment used to prune those trees as well as the safety gear needed to keep crew members safe.
At the end of their presentation, Bartlett Trees Experts provided each LBE fourth-grader with their very own white pine tree to plant at home.
